Do school-based polling places put students at risk?

As schools open their doors to voters on Nov. 4, more will be giving students a day off out of concerns about safety. "In today's world, we ask a mother to show her driver's license before she can deliver cupcakes to her daughter's classroom. But on Election Day, we were allowing every Tom, Dick and Harry to walk in the front door," said John H. Weicker, security director for schools in the Fort Wayne, Ind., area, where voters rather than students are being relocated.
