Climate change is topic of API Annual Meeting

Executives with major oil businesses including ExxonMobil, Chevron and ConocoPhillips discussed the climate change bill and its effects on the industry during the American Petroleum Institute's yearly meeting, which was closed to the media. "It's just not the time to be passing legislation that kills jobs in the United States," Devon CEO and API Chairman Larry Nichols said after the session. The sector has "a lot of education to do" to emphasize its role in the country's economy and the problems with proposed rules on climate change, API CEO Jack Gerard added.
