Doctors conduct multiple-unit SCT on aplastic anemia patient

Indian doctors have conducted the country's first stem cell transplant that used umbilical cord blood from three different donors. The procedure was performed on a patient with advanced aplastic anemia. "The risk of multiple-unit SCT is that the patient has a chance of developing graft-versus-host diseases. But this can be taken care of with proper medication," an expert said.
