Human resources should spearhead communication efforts

Human resources not only should help craft any message delivered by the CEO to outsiders but ensure the same message is communicated to employees, Merrie Spaeth writes. Human resources is in a unique position to understand employee sentiment and how statements will be received, she notes. "These initiatives need to be promoted by HR and owned by HR," she says. "HR needs to make themselves experts on these new internal channels of communications."
