Report: Florida's biotech sector needs more funding, law revamp

Florida should reshape its tax and environmental laws and boost spending in order to keep and attract biotech companies in the state, according to a report by the Task Force on the Study of Biotech Competitiveness. The report also called for the creation of on-campus incubators to aid startup firms in the medical-device industry and other sectors. "In these tough economic times, it is critical to ensure Florida maintains a competitive edge," Gov. Charlie Crist said.
