Amtrak opens reconstructed auto-train terminal

Amtrak has rebuilt its Sanford, Fla., auto terminal with a $10.5 million federal grant. Amtrak's auto train is the world's longest passenger train, outfitted with more than 40 passenger coaches and additional vehicle carriers. "The Auto Train is an example of how good stations, modern equipment and competent operation make good service. We've made the investments, and passengers are reaping the benefits," said Thomas Carper, chairman of the Amtrak board.
