Analysis: Renters drive a U.S. housing recovery

U.S. multifamily-housing starts and confidence by builders are rising in a different kind of housing recovery, driven by renters, according to an Economist blog post. Data suggest that after the housing crash, many young Americans doubt the value of homeownership. "It may be some time before the explanation for the trend is clear," the blogger writes.
