Credit insurance issues plague retailers in UK

The British Retail Consortium says 92% of large retailers and 74% of small to medium-sized retailers say trade credit insurers do not accurately assess risk. Also, many retailers say their businesses have been negatively affected by the reduction or complete withdrawal of credit insurance. Many retailers are lobbying for an extension of the government's Trade Credit Insurance Scheme, which is scheduled to end Dec. 31.
