States mull online election regs

Several states are looking at how offline campaign ad requirements, such as "paid for by" disclaimers, apply in the online environment. In Florida, for example, regulators fined a St. Petersburg mayoral candidate $250 for not including such a disclaimer in a search ad. The text of the required disclaimer is longer than the 68-character maximum of the search-ad unit, and the candidate, Scott Wagman, is fighting the fine.
