Loopt introduces Facebook Places features

Location-based network Loopt is adding Facebook Places integration, and company officials say the tool is the deepest-yet implementation of Places into an existing network. Rather than simply pushing location updates to Facebook, Loopt will automatically detect matching locations in Facebook Places' database and check users in at the correct venue. The move will allow users to maintain a unified data set for all their location-based activities, says Loopt founder Sam Altman.
