Portland, Maine, approves $11M in energy upgrades

The Portland City Council in Maine has given the green light to an $11 million spending measure that will implement dozens of upgrades at city buildings and schools based on results from an energy audit. The energy-efficiency upgrades include replacing roofs, installing motion-sensor lighting and improving insulation at public schools, and replacing the air-conditioning system in the Council chambers at City Hall.
