Rakuten wants regulator to review Yahoo! Japan-Google tie-up

Rakuten, the largest online shopping mall operator in Japan, has asked the country's Fair Trade Commission to review a partnership planned between Google and Yahoo! Japan. "The tie-up between the two firms would result in Google [monopolising] information, which could hinder the development and growth of not only search engines but many Internet-related services in Japan," according to Rakuten.
