Aggressive infection forces zoo to euthanize bear

Veterinarians at the Tulsa Zoo in Oklahoma euthanized a grizzly bear after the animal contracted an aggressive fungal infection. The 2-year-old bear was treated first for what appeared to be a routine bacterial abscess, but the medications didn't work and further tests revealed the atypical fungal infection, said senior staff veterinarian Kay Backues.
