NYC schools get creative to fit in more student exercise

New York City students do not get enough exercise from physical education classes, which sometimes are held only once per week, so schools are getting creative in finding ways to add in exercise time. Teachers and administrators set up running and before- or after-school fitness clubs, take classroom breaks so students can stretch or exercise at their desks, and one even used grant money to turn a storage closet into an exercise room.
