Candy corn fills many roles as beloved American treat

Candy corn is a 130-year-old American institution that serves not only as a seasonal treat but a favorite part of fall home decor or school craft projects. Food Network stars such as Alton Brown have made recipes with candy corn, while inventive decorators use it to create centerpieces or garlands. “One of the reasons candy corn has remained so popular is that it’s a 'limited edition.' This is really the only time of year you can easily get it, and that limited availability makes it attractive,” said NCA spokeswoman Susan Whiteside.
