DDoS attacks are getting stronger

Distributed-denial-of-service attacks these days are resorting to larger bit-per-second assaults, Carol Wilson writes. The DDoS attack on Spamhaus in March hit 300 gigabits per second and had a worldwide effect on Internet traffic, she notes. Attacks involving more than 20 Gbps have increased 350% this year compared with 2012, according to Darren Anstee of Arbor Networks.
