Mexican lawmakers use oil-revenue forecast to close budget gap

The lower house of the Mexican legislature raised its estimate of next year's oil revenue to close a gap in funding for the 2014 budget. Lawmakers had to scale back tax reform proposed by President Enrique Pena Nieto, making the revised estimate necessary. A proposal to raise the maximum income-tax rate to 35%, from 30%, was approved.
