Sen. Grassley defends call for FTC probe of Big Oil

Requesting that the Federal Trade Commission look into potential anti-competitive actions by oil firms is just proper oversight, not "bullying," as described in a Wall Street Journal editorial, writes Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa. He worked with Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., to send the request to the FTC. "Our concern was that Big Oil allowed the sale of different ethanol blends when it was beneficial to it, but when a franchisee wanted to change the blend to provide more choice for his customers, Big Oil changed its tune to quash the competition," Grassley states.
