Proposed change to yogurt rules create a stir

Members of the National Yogurt Association such as Dannon and Yoplait-Colombo are lobbying the FDA to require that products contain a minimum level of bacteria and contain more than half standard and optional dairy ingredients. Smaller producers are concerned about the cost of testing for cultures, and dairy farmers worry that optional ingredients might open the door for the increased use of milk protein concentrate.
