SEC, CFTC, Fed fight for power to oversee credit-default swaps

The U.S. government is moving toward bringing oversight and transparency to the unregulated market of credit-default swaps, but it remains to be seen how that will be done and who will do it. A turf war is brewing between the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the Federal Reserve, which all take different approaches to regulating swaps.
