Food-safety bill has support of industry, consumer groups

A bill that would give the Food and Drug Administration more power to oversee the nation's food supply has bipartisan support, as well as approval from consumer and industry groups tired of costly and dangerous product recalls. The law would require more food-facility inspections and would give the FDA power to recall products by itself.
