GE plans 2010 launch for hand-held ultrasound device

General Electric plans to launch in 2010 a phone-size ultrasound device, called Vscan, CEO Jeffrey Immelt said. GE Healthcare plans to conduct a study in the U.S., Asia and Europe to see how the device, which was approved by the FDA in September, could help primary-care doctors and other health providers diagnose diseases.
