Government agencies exceed goals for small-business contracts

Newly released statistics indicate that nearly 26% of federal contracts funded by the stimulus have gone to small businesses. All agencies have not met the 23% federal small-business quota while some contracting programs -- those that advance disadvantaged, service-disabled and historically underutilized business zone businesses -- have exceeded their specific goals. Contracts to women-owned businesses have fallen short of expectations, and the Small Business Administration has launched an online training program to help women navigate the system.
