Staff economist to lead Fed's bank supervision, regulation

The Federal Reserve tapped Patrick Parkinson, an architect of the White House's financial regulatory overhaul, to replace Roger Cole and lead bank supervision and regulation. The move comes as the Fed faces criticism for actions related to the global financial crisis and while it is striving to bolster supervision of the banking sector. Cole retired in August.
