Amazon invests in social-networking startup fund

Amazon, Facebook and four other technology companies have partnered to back a $250 million fund aimed at investing in social-networking startups. At a launch event Thursday for the fund, led by early-stage tech investment firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos said his company is interested in supporting startups that will use the Amazon Web Services cloud-computing platform.
