A recent survey by the Federal Reserve found that the economic recovery remains tepid, but it is no longer decelerating. The Fed's "beige book" notes that "national economic activity continued to rise, albeit at a modest pace" in September and early October. In the central bank's previous beige book, "widespread signs of deceleration" were noted.
