FHFA prepares for litigation on mortgage-backed securities

The Federal Housing Finance Agency, the regulator that oversees Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, has recruited a law firm for services as it moves ahead with trying to recoup losses on troubled mortgage-backed securities. The agency previously issued dozens of subpoenas to bank servicing companies, issuers of mortgage securities and other firms. However, the FHFA said its next move has not been determined.
