Safety, environmental award winners are named by RAC

Winners of the the Railway Association of Canada's 2010 safety and environmental awards were recently announced at the North American Rail Summit in Montreal. Canadian Pacific received the RAC Safety Award for its sprain/strain injury-reduction tool kit, which educated staff members on prevention measures. ArcellorMittal received the safety award for the use of a rail-car side-frame positioner and slat platform, which helped to prevent weld splattering. CN received the environmental award for working with First Nation group to create a tool in environmental mitigation for rail work, which used local rock/ballast and the development of a fish nursery.
