Mobile users provide big boost to social networks

Social networking increased 37% in the past year in the country, boosted by 40 million mobile-phone owners who access social networks on their device nearly every day, according to comScore. Mobile seems to be key to much of the growth, with "3 in 5 [smartphone owners] accessing social media each month, highlighting the importance of [applications] and the enhanced functionality of smartphones to social media usage on mobile devices," said Mark Donovan, comScore's senior vice president for mobile.
