7 teams put Atlas robots through their paces

Seven 330-pound Atlas robots from Boston Dynamics are out and about and undergoing tests with seven research teams competing to see how effective the robots can be working in emergency environments. Work is progressing slowly, however, and the unsteady robots still need to be tethered from above in the event they start to topple. The teams are competing "on a set of separate tasks like driving, closing a valve, crossing a rubble field and climbing a staircase," according to this article.
