The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority will soon seek bids to help support the second phase of Virginia's Dulles Corridor Metrorail project. The primary contract was given to Capital Rail Constructors this summer. Site work is already underway on the second phase. "Construction is expected to begin in the spring, but we are quite literally laying the groundwork today," said MWAA President and CEO Jack Potter. The Silver Line's $2.6 billion first phase involved construction of five stations; six others will be built during the second phase, along with a rail yard.
