Companies increasingly see value in health insurance for pets

Pet health insurance is viewed as a perk for employees by many U.S. companies. About 3,600 businesses nationwide, including one-third of Fortune 500 companies, now offer it, allowing pet owners access to increasingly advanced care. "There are so many more technological innovations and treatments available today that your dog getting cancer isn't necessarily a death sentence," said AVMA spokesman Michael San Filippo. "There are more procedures available, but they can leave pet owners wondering how to pay for it."
