Engineering expert sees bright future for drones

Beyond its military missions, drones can offer remarkable benefits for food production, delivery of medical supplies and other efforts. Missy Cummings, a former Navy fighter pilot and professor of mechanical engineering at Duke University, said drones can also provide a boost to the aerospace industry. "The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is using the privacy argument as a shield against introducing the critical changes needed to open up our national airspace to drones," said Cummings.
