Former FERC nominee urges regulators to transform the grid

Ron Binz, who withdrew his nomination to serve as chairman of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission early this month, said last week at a conference in Washington, D.C., that state regulators should advance smart grid technology in the U.S. power grid. "A lot of the nettlesome things we've been talking about today begin to melt away when you develop a vision of where all this ends up. So start thinking and saying out loud what you think the grid will look like in 20 years," he said during a panel discussion.
