Sasol moves forward on La. petrochemical projects

Sasol, a South African energy and chemical firm, expects to spend up to $21 billion on its proposed gas-to-liquids facility and ethane cracker plant in Louisiana, according to this article. The ethane plant and an associated chemical facility are expected to be finished by 2017, with an output of about 1.5 million tons of ethylene per year. The final investment decision on the ethane plant is expected in the first quarter of 2014, with the decision on the GTL facility coming about 18 to 24 months after that.
