SBA works to process loan applications delayed by shutdown

Some small-business owners may have to put their plans on hold as they wait for the Small Business Administration to work through the backlog of loan applications that built up during the government shutdown. Applications worth $140 million were submitted through the agency's 7(a) program while the SBA's offices were closed. The delay has already had an impact on business leaders, including one who said during a recent congressional hearing that his firm had to cancel an order and alter its hiring plans as a result of the shutdown.
