Study: Program boosts fruit, vegetable intake among children

A nutrition program for low-income children increased their consumption of fruits and vegetables and lowered their glycemic index levels compared with a control group, according to a Harvard School of Public Health study in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The study included 432 children in grades 1 through 6 who lived in eight rural communities.
