Google profit more than doubles, stock jumps

Google, the Internet search service that first offered shares to the public in August at $85, said its profit and revenue more than doubled in the most recent quarter. Wall Street applauded -- driving shares up 6.33% at the close of trading to $149.38. Advertising on Google's Web sites represented 51% of revenue, up slightly from 49% during the previous period.
