Paraguay approves importing, planting of Monsanto GM soybean seeds

Paraguay has approved four versions of Monsanto's Roundup Ready soybean varieties, the company said. Growers, handlers, seed companies and technology firms agreed on a system of royalties to be paid to Monsanto for use of the seeds, and the company agreed, in return, to fund R&D projects in the South American nation. Monsanto said Paraguay is the 16th country or region to approve planting or importing of the seeds.
