Paperless boarding passes poised for wider rollout

Electronic boarding passes could become the norm as early as next year after the TSA wraps up testing at select airports across the country. The passes are bar codes e-mailed to passengers and displayed on cell phones and other personal electronic devices. Four U.S. carriers are currently testing the technology at nine airports, with many more locations expected in the coming months.
