U.S. wind-energy capacity grows in 2008

According to the American Wind Energy Association, the U.S. added more than 1,400 megawatts of capacity in the second quarter of 2008. Wind energy will also provide more jobs, as eight new wind-turbine-component manufacturers opened in the last year. "We're past the point of wind being a marginal player," said Randall Swisher, the association's executive director.
