Delta reports loss, sees "improving trends"

Delta Air Lines reported a $161 million loss for the third quarter as lower fares led to a 21% revenue slide. "The global recession drove a significant revenue decline for the quarter, but we see improving trends in load factors, yield and business traffic," President Edward Bastian said in a statement. Excluding special charges, Delta earned 6 cents per share, easily beating Wall Street's expectation of a loss of 5 cents per share.
