As more doctors work to implement electronic medical record systems, the demand for establishing connectivity between hospital-based laboratory systems and physician practice EMRs also is higher, said Charles Halfpenny, founder and president of Halfpenny Technologies. Hospitals and practices should be able to successfully integrate their systems and improve their work flow by collaborating with a competent health information exchange provider, Halfpenny said.
