LAPD panel calls for youth group to comply with anti-bias policy

The Los Angeles Police Commission on Tuesday gave the police department two weeks to determine how it can offer a version of its Explorers program for at-risk youths that complies with the LAPD's nondiscrimination policy. Currently, the program is run by Learning for Life, which is connected to the anti-gay Boy Scouts of America. Out commission member Rob Saltzman was among those who praised the goals of the program, but said it must also fall in line with departmental policy.
