Nokia takes on Apple over alleged patent infringements

A pair of global giants in their field -- Nokia and Apple -- could be headed to court after the world's largest handset maker sued the consumer-electronics giant in federal court Thursday on allegations that the iPhone has infringed on 10 of Nokia's patents dealing with technology that connects cell phones to wireless networks. Nokia has been frustrated by its inability to conclude an agreement with Apple even though 40 other phone makers have licensed Nokia's patents covering wireless data, speech coding, security and encryption.
