Retail sales in Canada up 0.8% in August

Higher prices on gas and new truck purchases helped bolster retail sales in Canada. Sales rebounded from a revised 0.5% decline in July, according to Statistics Canada. The August sales increase was the sixth this year, indicating that Canadian consumers are spending once again as the economic recovery is under way.
