United Airlines on Thursday said it will add a total of 18 new routes to its network but will keep spending in check as it expands. The new routes are the first major additions to the network since it merged with Continental Airlines. Executives noted that capacity will increase just 1% to 2% next year. "I want to be clear that at the new United, we remain committed to capacity discipline," Chief Executive Jeff Smisek said.
