U.S. diabetes rates will rise sharply in next 40 years, CDC says

A CDC report projects that U.S. diabetes rates will double or even triple by 2050 because of multiple factors, including early diagnosis, an increase in minority populations -- who are at a higher risk for the disease -- and more overweight Americans. The report underscores the need for prevention and early intervention, an American Diabetes Association official said.
