Ventas acquires Atria's senior living assets for $1.5 billion

Ventas is acquiring 118 communities from Atria Senior Living Group for $1.5 billion. The cash-and-stock purchase will make Ventas the largest owner of senior housing communities in the U.S. Under the deal, Ventas is paying $150 million in cash, 25 million shares of stock that are valued at $1.35 billion and is assuming $1.6 billion in Atria's debt. The deal will generate revenue of $640 million next year.
