Army to develop aluminum-hulled vehicles that guard against IEDs

The Army, DARPA and Alcoa Defense are developing combat vehicles that can better withstand blasts from roadside bombs, the biggest cause of death for U.S. and coalition troops in Afghanistan and Iraq. The vehicles feature single-piece aluminum hulls.
